David Silva talks about the World Cup

David SilvaDavid Silva is in the battle to play as a “false” striker

In the last 3 tournaments Vicente Del Bosque used a striker. However, it seems like the option of playing with a “false” 9 like Messi does in FC Barcelona, for example, is very real. To play like this, Cesc Fábregas and David Silva are the best options that the National Team manager has. In Spain, the article has been nicely illustrated with a funny drawing of David.

David Silva recently conceded some interviews where he talked about the World Cup and he assured that the team is feeling well and prepared. The team knows what to expect from Brazil and the atmosphere that they will face there.

“We know the environment that awaits us. We now have a base here and that’s very good for us. We are alerted.”

Silva was also aware of the hard competition for spots in Spain’s midfield, and hopes to play on his best level to achieve the trust of coach Vicente Del Bosque.

“In the last World Cup I didn’t get so much participation but in the two European Championships I got more. I try to maintain the level, and then the coach will decide.”

Despite not having a major role in South Africa four years ago, Silva’s memory from the previous World Cup is nothing but positive.

“It was an amazing memory because we won. I didn’t talk with Del Bosque if I played little, and I didn’t talk with him when I played. I try to have my opportunities and take them.”

The Spaniards start their World Cup journey against Holland, and Silva expects a difficult match.

“The first game is fundamental and if you win it, it’s an important game.”

With regards to his own position on the pitch, Silva admitted to preferring a central role.

“I feel more comfortable behind the striker. I feel very good in that position. I try to adapt. We have very good attackers and hopefully we’ll score many goals.”
