Clubs use their players not only in their commercial campaigns but also in their communications and messages. Players are a very powerful marketing tool and they are enormously helpful when it comes to reaching a broader audience and engaging with fans.
Manchester City surprised everybody with an innovative initiative this time around last year. The club created an interactive advent calendar where players from the first team would feature in different and fun videos while doing all sort of activities and taking numerous challenges.
Replicating the same formula, while giving some visibility to Nissan as the calendar’s sponsor, in this year’s advent calendar we can see David Silva magically solving a Rubik cube, Vincent Kompany playing “Guess who?” and much more. An excellent way to celebrate Christmas with fans and to take advantage of players’ popularity.
